Escalator/elevator maintenance engineer

Escalator/elevator maintenance engineers are primarily responsible for all preventative maintenance and repair work on elevators and similar people-moving machinery.
They also install various components of the elevator system, such as the railings on which the elevator car travels, its supporting motors and cables and the electrical wiring and microprocessors that power the equipment.
Escalator/elevator maintenance engineers respond to calls about malfunctioning equipment, often troubleshooting the machinery until the problem can be diagnosed and solved.
These technicians check wiring and parts for signs of wear, replace parts as needed, oil gears and test electrical systems to make sure the elevator unit is running efficiently.

Escalator/elevator maintenance engineer Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the installation of elevators, mechanical walkways, and escalators.
• Responding to mechanical failures and system malfunctions.
• Installing and testing electrical systems.
• Servicing and maintaining machine parts.
• Repairing or replacing system parts.
• Oiling and greasing moving parts.
• Carrying out safety checks.
• Maintaining stock and ordering supplies.
• Maintaining a clean working area
  
  

• Relevant mechanical certification.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in relative field.
• Advanced knowledge of elevator systems, mechanical walkways, and escalators.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions.
• Ability to work independently.
